Hi, I’m Sandy. I’m 70, retired and living my dream. I’m mobile, taking my home with me wherever I go – living in a 24 ft. class C motorhome as I take the next year to travel the USA, seeking experiences, views, learning and insights into this life I’ve been living. I don’t believe in searching for the answers, instead I believe we add to the spiritual collective knowledge as we go through life.
Adventurous spirit – yes, but not in an extreme sport kind of way. My experiences are my adventures. I don’t need to climb mountains, sky-dive, or scuba dive, not my speed. Instead, I prefer the spontaneous things that happen on my journeys – a buffalo chasing me into the men’s bathroom, a thunderstorm that sent me running from a tent to the car or rustling cattle on my one and only cattle drive – those are adventures to me. And that’s what this blog will be about.
Where did my spirit come from? Well, perhaps it started with parents who left their small towns, joined the Navy and met each other on a small island belonging to the USA in the middle of the Pacific Ocean (aka Oahu, in the territory of Hawaii). Or perhaps it was how they raised me and my four siblings, packing all seven of us into a VW Bus and travelling from San Diego to Wisconsin in the summer of 1968, camping in national parks or even more interesting, in a corn field in Iowa along the way. I sometimes think I was influenced by a show in the early 1960’s in which travelling with everything you owned in your wagon, stopping at night to listen to the fiddle, dance and gossip with your new friends looked pretty cool, even if you often had to circle the wagons to fight off a variety of bad guys. (Kind like the next four years will be due to the recent elections).
Anyway, this adventure began on October 1, 2024, after turning 70, when I left the work world behind. This phase of that journey will be in progress for the next year or so. (Actually, my vision is to have adventures well into my 100’s, but they may become less challenging over time) I’m sharing my adventures with my companions, Spirit, my 13-year-old cat (hyperactive thyroid, temporary bald spots and watch cat) and Audy-Wee, my 4 year old Goldendoodle (official greeter/social activities director) If you are interested in sharing the journey, my adventures and some life stories, insights, scenery, learning and “knowing’s” (will explain in a post), please follow my blog. Namaste.
